According to both the El Clarín and OK Diario media outlets Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Real Madrid, introduced Russian Model Helga Lovekaty to James Rodríguez. Lovekaty is said to be an enormous fan of Rodríguez, and asked for the introduction during a bar party in Madrid, Spain two years ago.
According to the sites, the introduction blossomed into a two-year romance, culminating in the divorce of the two Colombian icons after 8 years of marriage. James’ soon-to-be ex-wife, Daniela Ospina, announced the separation on Instagram earlier last month.
Neither James Rodríguez nor Daniela Ospina have released any additional statements about the matter.
Daniela Ospina is the sister of David Ospina, the Arsenal FC and Colombian national team goalkeeper. James and Ospina were known to have a very close friendship, leaving some to wonder if these new revelations will affect the chemistry of the two players on the field. Colombia travels to Venezuela on August 31 as part of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
