In a new twist, Spanish sports site Don Balón is reporting that James Rodriguez’ value has fallen sharply given Real Madrid’s inability to find a taker at their high asking price, and that Real has now lowered their asking price from 70 million euro to 40 million euro. According to the same publication, Chelsea has now entered the scene and is willing to offer up to 60 million euro for the Colombian captain.
If true, the move would put James on the best team in the Premier League and provide the potential for a revenge match against his former team in the Champions League. Conte, Chelsea’s coach, has been pushing management to make more acquisitions and prepare the team for a run at the Champions title next year.
The problem, according to Don Balón, is that Rodriguez is still insisting that he be transferred to Manchester United. His unwillingness to consider other offers, including teams such as PSG and AC Milan who have expressed interest, is hurting his market value. Manchester, knowing that they are in the driver’s seat, has maintained a low profile and has not offered anywhere close to the asking price of Real Madrid.
