Bayern Munich was defeated by Liverpool 3-0 in the second game of the semifinals of the Audi Cup. The team was dominated the entire match by a more physical English side.
Bayern Munich managed to maintain possession of the ball through the first 7 minutes of the match, but lost it to Corentin Tolisso, giving the advantage to Liverpool whose counterattack resulted in a goal by Senegalese player Sadio Mané.
The German side found themselves under constant attack during nearly the entire first half, with Sven Ulreich making two key saves at minutes 13 and 25. However it was not enough, as Salah broke through in minute 37 for Liverpool’s second goal.
Bayern tried to get the ball to David Alaba and Thomas Müller, but most of their attempts were frustrated.
James Rodríguez played for 62 minutes as a front-line player, but he looked lost at times as he adjusts to his new team. James did have one shot, which missed its target.
Bayern Munich will now play against rival Dortmund in the German Supercup this Saturday. Dortmund, a scoring team with an explosive offense, will present Bayern’s greatest challenge yet this summer.
